SMIA Graduate
Music Director Certification

"I realized that through the program I’d be receiving almost everything I had wanted from a sacred music degree while at the same time receiving professional advice on the particular needs of my parish. In addition to that I’d be able to actually stay in my parish instead of leaving for four years and not knowing if I had the same job to come back to."
Emily Roy, Certified Music Director
What is a Video Portfolio?
A video portfolio is a curated collection of video clips that showcase a student's skills, experience, and musicianship in sacred music. It can be used as part of a job application or interview process to tangibly demonstrate abilities in a way that a written résumé cannot. Creating a video portfolio can give a job applicant a distinct edge in the interview process by allowing search committees and pastors to see and hear work in context—musicality, liturgical sensitivity, and technical skills all come to life. Importantly, this is not an overwhelming process. Students can feel secure and confident knowing that they will receive guidance and support in building a professional video portfolio as part of the formation process in our certification programs, helping to present gifts with confidence and clarity.
