"Beyond the Notes" explores extramusical skills necessary for success as a church musician, including interpersonal skills (leadership styles, working with clergy and volunteers), music planning resources, the liturgical year, and an overview of the role of music in major denominations.
Students who choose to audit the course will receive all lectures but cannot participate in live course discussions or receive instructor feedback on their work. Auditing a course does not satisfy SMIA certification track requirements.
